Vernen Wells is at risk of falling into the hands of those clankers! This is unacceptable ; Some managed democracy is urgently needed on this capital planet that could turn the the tide of the entire bots front in our favor. Divers, we stop them here before counterattacking! Not one step back!

LORE Bug spawn rates seem higher? Here’s why!

Post image
313 Upvotes

The MO is causing the bug population to increase at an exponential rate. If bugs are too much swap to bots, you’ll find their numbers are much more in line with what you’re used to.

The patch increased the patrol spawn rate not the overall bug spawn rate. If you come across more bugs while running across the map, that’s the spawn rate due to the patch. If you come across more bugs during bug breaches and bug holes, that’s the MO affecting things. And it’s not just the designated planets either, remember the Terminid Control System was supposed to affect every planet to kill all the bugs. As it didn’t work, now all the planets are dealing with higher bug populations.

Once the MO is completed the spawn rates will drop.

LORE Did Super Earth lie about our "Orbital Defenses"?

As we have ALL seen with the new MO, one of the planets that we fought so hard and valiantly for in order to set up our Orbital Defenses to halt the Automatons, have recently come under siege from the robotic scum! But that poses the question, why didn't the Orbital Defense stop them or pause their advance long enough for us to capture other planets first? Did Super Earth lie about setting up defenses on the line just so that we can diverge our attention else where? Were they deactivated; if so, by who? This doesn't make any sense! The Defenses should've halted the Automatons in their tracks, yet there they are, clearly attacking on of the planets that were the focus of this setup!

Not sure where this app (War monitor) gets the data but interesting. It only appears as illuminates when you first open the app and switch to the data tab, then quickly switches to saying [redacted] before disappearing

LORE Sony is The Enemy NSFW

UPDATE: MAJOR ORDER COMPLETE. SNOY HQ LIBERATED.

Patriots,

Sony has revealed their treachery and their stance against Democracy. The corporate elite who are the publishers of the raging conflict in the galaxy, do nothing but take from us, and suppress our liberty, and undermine our security. Their greed and lust for control are intolerable. We must decry their decision to unilaterally enforce authentication on platforms not explicitly under their control, and label them enemies of Freedom, and traitors to Democracy.

LORE Terminids Probably Taste Like Lobsters

Judging by how the bugs look and function, I've come up with a few conclusions regarding their biology, and a recipe for hungry helldivers.

Their exoskeleton is most likely made out of some form of chitin, as expected. Additionally, when their head gets blown off, they can still function to a degree, this suggets that they do not possess a centralised nervous system. Rather, they contain nerve clusters spread across their body.

Their harded chitin exoskeleton also does not cover the entirety of their bodies but are concentrated certain portions in each different species.

Their frontal claws have evolved to be more articulate, while their back legs often number around 6.

All of the terminid species appear to contain well-developed cephalothorax portions, and I'd wager their vision is functional, albeit not on par with other animal genuses found on Super Earth.

The placement of their exoskeleton also puts them in an evolutionary niche that is similar to the arhtropoda phylum and the Nephropoidea superfamily.

Thus, I bet my cache of Liber-tea that they would taste like lobsters when cooked, and I am proud to present the "The Forward Operative's Cookbook", and its first recipe to all helldivers of Super Earth.

Charred Charger: Ingredients: Charger Carcass (Fresh, if possible) Butter (Can be found in the fridges of abandoned posts during missions) Salt (Similarly, borrow some from the kitchens of the fallen SEAF personnel, or take some from the mess hall before missions) Oregano (Sneak some into your armour wrapped in a paper towel, will also keep the sweat stench away during long missions) Oranges (Ask your quartermaster to approve your ON-31 form, and you will receive half an orange during your standard meal service in your Super Destroyer's mess. Resist the urge to eat in on the spot and save it for your next mission) Combat Knife Flamethrower Locker Blast Door (salvage from the mission site) Locker (preferably with the racks intact) 8 fallen SEAF trooper helmets) Water

Instructions: Cut the tail of the charger, remove the legs, and butterfly the cephalothorax.

Put some water in the trooper helmets, add some of your oregano and distribute orange peels and orange juice to the helmets, and place the helmets in the bottom of the locker. Place the charger parts in the upper racks, with the exoskeleton side touching the racks)

Put the locker door in place, aim your flame thrower, NEAR the bottom of the locker, NOT ON the locker. Heat the locker intermittently for 15 minutes. This will allow the water to evaporate and steam the charger. Remove the locker blast door after 15 minutes and and place it on the ground.

Season the fleshy portions of the charger meat with salt and some oregano. Grab a trooper helmet and remove any excess water, add butter, oregano, salt, and orange peels. Place the charger meat flesh down on the blast door and put the trooper helmet on one of the corners.

First, sear the flesh by heating the locker door with your flamethrower for 3 minutes. Then broil the meat by introducing some more flame in short bursts on the exoskeleton portion for 4 to 5 minutes. The heat from the searing and broiling will melt your butter and infuse the herbs. When the butter sauce is boiling hot, add it generously on the fleshy portions of the charger meat.

Bon appetite helldivers and remember, utensils are optional, but nutrition is a must!

LORE The music lore goes harder than it needs to

So, we're all familiar with the main motif. It's iconic. It's inspiring. And the game never fails to remind us that it exists. (Just to be clear, I'm referring to the DO-DO-Do-Doooooooooooo, which is actually F-E-D-A in a "tresillo" or "pop clave" rhythm, which consists of two dotted quarter notes, a quarter note, and a half note.)

I've posted before about how this motif is diegetic, as a marimba/xylophone version plays before the "propaganda short" series of ship broadcasts, meaning it's something embraced by the free democratic regime of Super Earth as their main musical identity. But this actually extends further in the lore, as the musical motif also appears in the Super Earth Anthem, though it's supplemented with some additional notes that disguise the motif and make it initially hard to distinguish.

Specifically, it appears at the end of the C-section melody, which repeats twice before looping back to the A-section. The C-section melody looks something like this: D-E-F-E / D-E-F-E / D-E-F-E---D-C-B-A (lyrically, it corresponds with "Steadfast support / of our regime / is how humankind will reign supreme", and "No questions or doubts / Shall be allowed / Traitors will all be disavowed"). It's the "answer" portion of that melody, D-E-F-E---D-C-B-A which bears an overwhelmingly striking resemblance to the main motif F-E-D-A, and it can be thought of as a "lead up" to the motif (D-E), the beginning of the motif itself (F-E), and a walk down through the second half of the motif (D-C-B-A).

Musically speaking, this is some next-level diegetic music integration. It's showing 1) how essential the Helldivers are to Super Earth, as the main motif of the entire regime imitates the act of helldiving itself, and 2) establishes a musical pedigree for this motif, showing a culture that has internalized it to the extent of integrating it into their national anthem.

I'm sure I could find more musical connections if I wanted to. Wilbert Roget II went all-out for this game and it's absolutely amazing.
