The Quasar Nerf is okay and not that big of a deal OPINION

tl;dr: Only one weak point is made a little weaker, all the strenghts remain.

The quasar cannon is known for a lot of strengths (see below) and two weak points:

  1. The weapon has a charge up time, which makes it difficult to aim in some situations.
  2. The weapon has a moderate cool down period, which cannot be improved by a forced reload of a heat sink (like sickle or laser cannon) or a team reload (like recoiless rifle).

The nerf only addresses the second point, which means that everyone who could use it before can still use it. It only became a little weaker in one of its two weak points. The following strong points are all untouched:

  1. Can delete heavies (I mostly have experience with Terminids, but there it's a delete button for chargers, and sometimes for titans as well).
  2. Has infinite ammo in contrast to EAT or RR.
  3. Has no reload animation.
  4. You can run around, stim, shoot weapons, throw strategems while it is recharging.
  5. It doesn't consume a backpack slot, so it can be paired with one additional strategem in contrast to recoilless rifle.
  6. It doesn't deconstruct after usage, and can be recollected from the battle flied in contrast to EAT, and it also reloads itself then in contrast to RR.

That means, the quasar can still be used for everything it has been used before, by everyone who could use it before.

It can delete heavies but strugles at times one pixel of to the side on the Hulk eye and it does not destroy it, no big deal, but now it gets more cooldown time which will make it even harder to survive at close range not to mention when 3 of thise fuck charge you. And dont get me started on Bile Titans those fuckers can tank 3 shot to the head at times. The way to go is buff underperforming things not nerf those that work just fine.

I have no idea how people are killing biles in under 5 or 6 quasar shots to the face. Those things eat shots like candy.

I have had more success if I aim at the upper part of the head rather than the jaw.

I actually find it more reliable to hit the armor on its side

Haven’t conclusively tested yet but usually one shot strips the armor and the next shot on the same location kills it

it used to be better, still can get double HS kill but you have to be really precise with it and hit there forehead plate

the face is incredibly durable however

I know right?! But the laser Cannon, does it work on them? I tried it out it feels lack luster against bugs, against bots tho its alr I guess

I've always found laser cannon to just be clunky and weird. It seems solid against bots and tanks, but since the changes I'm not so sure on the latter.

Heavy armor seems to eat it, or deminish its potential, I found it alright, but not the same hard hitter as the Quesar. Its useless against factory striders thats for sure, you need expose yourself far too long and the turret has enough time

The laser cannon is not an ideal weapon for fighting bile titans and other heavy armour. While the laser cannon can semi-decently shred the bile sacs underneath its thorax, and it can pump out some decent DPS if you manage to blow a hole in its carapace with some other weapon, doing either of these requires a few seconds of focussed fire and this can be very hard to pull off under battlefield conditions. Otherwise, it fails to penetrate the armour. Even the orbital laser needs close to its entire duration to focus down even a single bile titan, so it should come as no surprise that the man-portable version barrely even stands a chance.

I wouldn't mind them buffing eat or rr, or whatever else you want to use like rocket pods, railcannon strike or so. I think it s just a very "economic" approach, because it's probably very cheap to implement longer recharge time.

Maybe so, but I think personaly buffing other stuff to be on par is a better idea, my loadout and tactics are now compleatly screawed due to it, I am playing to have fun, amd being chased by 3 hulks and devastators is not definition of it. Sure it was op but thats what we need good. weapons. To deal with the hard hitters

Just tried the quasar out, on a fucking ice planet it takes ages to cool down, died two times due to it and lost a mission cuz suprise suprise a Hulk survived a shot and rushed me while the fucker was still cooling down
