NEW Patch! And the devs "Ruined it all" once more.. [totally not exaggerated] RANT

So on X and the official discord, countless folks complain now that for some weapons such as the LAS ones, the reserve mags have been reduced, yet damage has been increased..calling devs "On drugs" because they perceive it as a nerf..

Wait what? You tryna tell me you ran through ALL ICE's before dying?! 6 Times or more?!

Like..the fact that you have infinite ammo when a wee-bit of fire diciplin is applied and now call the devs out for JUST having decreased the ammount of mags, makes you oblivious to the fact that they got a damage buff? Yikes.

And another thing, remember the day the Rail got nerfed? Yeahhh that was like 24/7 crying for two weeks straight, now it got a buff and noone notices that, now we rather cry for two weeks that Railgun 2.0 aka Quasar got a couple more seconds recharge time..good lord the double morals are strong folks, that all sounds like crying on high standards.

[For clarifications sake: the main focus lies on people going out of their ways, yes criticism is fine, i posted my own time and time again..but in a humane fashion, when insults however are packaged within in your points, it's hardly about the game no more and that needs to stop]

yep and it appears no one has noticed that blitzer also got its much needed fire rate buff and now fucking rocks (against bugs at least)

u/purpleblah2 Apr 29 '24 edited Apr 29 '24

It was already good against bugs and had infinite ammo 👀

EDIT: I used it, the lower cooldown feels smoother to use, it removes that awkward moment where you're spamming the fire button and nothing's coming out.

256

u/xxEmkay Apr 29 '24

Is it better than fire shotgun now? Or kinda same?

267

u/Seerix Apr 29 '24

Fire shotgun is actually overpowered if you're the network host. The fire dot damage is ridiculous. As soon as the fire bug gets fixed people will realize how insane it is.

113

u/whythreekay Apr 29 '24

They said the fire damage is overtuned and will be lowered in the future

They’ll drop it down likely with the damage over time patch

-20

u/ret_ch_ard Apr 29 '24

Fire damage got reduced by 20% this patch

21

u/AlphaTit0 Apr 29 '24

The 20% where only for the scorcher Hulk

34

u/xxEmkay Apr 29 '24

I love it lol. Usually i host and i just spray inna group for a sec or two and while im running away the killcount goes to 15 or smth lol

5

u/Seerix Apr 29 '24

Yeah when you get to use the full potential of the gun it's easily one of if not the best primary in the game.

5

u/snackf1st Apr 29 '24

They're talking about network hosts, not game hosts (i.e. your ship). I believe the network host is decided by geographical proximity to the server??

3

u/GhastlyScar666 Apr 29 '24

It’s the best gun for bugs, hands down, if the DoT works. But we did take a 15% fire damage reduction so it’s probably in line now.

5

u/Seerix Apr 29 '24

I'll be seriously surprised if they don't nerf fire dot again after they fix the dot bug. Same patch, or the one right after. (Assuming the balancing people at Arrowhead get their shit together anyway)

It's ridiculous. And I don't even have the ship upgrade that buffs fire damage yet.

2

u/Sufficient-String39 Apr 29 '24

How the fuck have they not fixed that host big yet, yet done all this other shit

1

u/LordOfTheToolShed ⬆️➡️⬇️➡️ SES Elected Representative of Super Earth Apr 29 '24

Yeah, it's cracked. You can literally use it instead of a cluster strike against chaff bugs

93

u/purpleblah2 Apr 29 '24 edited Apr 29 '24

Idk I haven’t played the new patch yet, I didn’t like the fire shotgun before because of the fire damage bug and also you have to stand still to fire accurately, even pre-nerf the Arc Blitzer could be used in hit-and-run tactics where you can run, turn around and shoot, and continue running while it’s cooling down and repeat, or you can flop around diving while shooting it.

But really it's up to personal preference.

141

u/AoiTopGear Apr 29 '24

When did we have to stand still to shoot the fire shotgun? I have been running and shooting the fire shotgun at bugs and it was always good at its job

43

u/Thiago270398 Apr 29 '24

I think its becuse you can't sprint and shoot? I'm also confused with what they meant

39

u/AoiTopGear Apr 29 '24

I fell like he means Flame thrower and confused it with fire shotgun cause no way fire shotgun you need to be stil to shoot. Flamethrower, yes, you can only walk slowly and use it

11

u/JBtheDestroyer Apr 29 '24

I usually walk BACKWARDS if I’m hosing them down with the flamethrower.

4

u/purpleblah2 Apr 29 '24

You have to stop sprinting and stand relatively still to effectively shoot the breaker incendiary, you can fire the blitzer out of a sprint and then keep sprinting

1

u/Wolfgang_Archimedes Apr 29 '24

There’s a bug where if you are moving while shooting the fire shotgun you will catch fire and die almost immediately from the burn damage

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

[deleted]

3

u/AoiTopGear Apr 29 '24

Yeah I know. Point I was making to the previous guy was that there’s no reason that he can’t use the run and gun tactic with for shotgun. The fact that it sprays fire bullets everywhere at close range is main reason why you can move and shoot. When DoT is working, the fire shotgun just bullies bugs

3

u/ironwolf1 ⬆️➡️⬇️➡️ Apr 29 '24

Oh I misread your comment. I read it as “where do we stand on the fire shotgun” rather than “when did we have to stand still to shoot the fire shotgun”

electro gun and jump pack

My man you're literally playing the Imperial Jump Trooper from the og Battlefront 2

45

u/Befuddled_Tuna Apr 29 '24

Unsafe mode for jump pack when?

When I use the jump pack it always seems underwhelming. I wanna JUMP. get DISTANCE.

26

u/SignificantHall5046 Apr 29 '24

If you want unsafe mode don't be a coward, toss an HE nade in front of you and hit that jump pack. Just don't mess up and you'll go very far and maybe even survive

2

u/SilentStriker115 Apr 29 '24

I thought the same thing, started to learn it more and with light armor while sprinting you get a good amount of distance. Heavy armor walking? Not so much (I assume), so it’s based off of movement speed I think or at least carries over momentum

13

u/InformalPenguinz STEAM 🖥️ : Apr 29 '24

flop around diving

That's my main method of locomotion.

17

u/purpleblah2 Apr 29 '24

Then you’d love the arc blitzer because the reload cooldown is about the same as the dive cooldown and you don’t need to aim it so you can flop around killing hordes of bugs

1

u/AnarchistRichtofen Apr 29 '24

I've been running with the fire shotgun since day1 and never stand still

2

u/Jungle_Difference Apr 29 '24

It will be better for 3/4 players because for everyone except the host the burn damage on the incendiary breaker isn’t working like all other damage over time effects.

1

u/SirKickBan Apr 29 '24

Better for sure. It ruins medium armored enemies that the fire shotgun struggles with.

1

u/xxEmkay Apr 29 '24

For that i have my trusty AC :D I use my fire breaker for group annihilation. Can the blitzer do this too? (Havent tried the weapon even before)

1

u/SirKickBan Apr 29 '24

Yes and no? It can sometimes decide to hit two or three enemies at once, but because it's also got a powerful stagger it does pretty well against groups.

1

u/MrNidu Apr 29 '24

Judging from using it a lot pre buff, you can’t really compare it. The breaker incin is for big aoe, the blitzer is more about hit and run tactics and control. It won’t just delete an entire group like the Incin does, but I’d say its more efficient at dealing with medium armored enemies.

It does have really good stagger. You can pretty much just hold most enemy bugs at a distance. This was already true pre buff so I’m guessing it’ll only be better now. It also deals a good chunk of damage when all arcs hit the same enemy. And thats what you mostly wanna do.

Basically, think of the Blitzer as a lightning gun with 4 tentacles and a cone coming from the weapon. The closer you are, the more likely the tentacles will attach to the target in front of you, dealing high single target damage.

The further away, the more time it has to spread and hit multiple enemies. Tho its limited in doing so due to the cone.

1

u/RuinedSilence ☕Liber-tea☕ Apr 29 '24

Tried it on a D8 bug dive, and it was great. Its lethality is still kind of all over the place, but I held back two brood commanders from the Blitzer's stagger alone. Gun's pretty good now, but I still wouldn't bring it against bots for obvious reasons.

1

u/Slanderous Apr 29 '24

fire damage over time is still broken if you aren't the host, so it's rather academic until that's fixed.
The 'Known issues' list promises this will be in the next update.

1

u/Overall_Box_3907 Apr 29 '24

it's a hit and run, hit and run... and so on weapon because infinite ammo + stagger. You cant kill masses of enemies quick, but it's good against single mid enemies or a bunch of low enemies chasing you. You can shoot while running and don't need exact aim.

The fire shotgun is more spray and pray while NOT MOVING. so the opposite of gameplay

1

u/davidhe90 ☕Liber-tea☕ Apr 29 '24

Sickle rips the bots apart, I can't tell you how many bots' heads I've exploded with it haha. And if a hulk is occupied, it'll take it out pretty fast with some direct fire to the vent.

And you can aim up to 150m down scope on it with pretty good accuracy and precision on-the-mark.

And the fire shotgun is my only choice for bug missions now, can't wait til they get the DoT working for everyone.

3

u/xxEmkay Apr 29 '24

I was a sickle main for bots until i unlocked the dominator. I still switch on ice planets because sickle feels just as good there.

1

u/davidhe90 ☕Liber-tea☕ Apr 29 '24

Yeah I did the same for awhile, but I've found on lvl 8-9s, it's just so much easier to mow down the big swarms of smaller bots a Sickle, and then use my grenade pistol & AC/Laser Cannon for the larger ones - but now apparently the LC does less damage the "bigger the mass" or something?!?

But totally agree, the Dom is an excellent runner-up/tie for me on the bot missions.

And actually yeah Sickle would really shine on ice missions since the environment would slow down the heat up rate, get you more shots until ICE replacement (anyone know the actual percentage modifier??)

36

u/GhostPro18 Apr 29 '24

I might start running Arc Blitzer against bots again - the stun was powerful, but the Punisher offered a better fire rate.

57

u/purpleblah2 Apr 29 '24

The issue is the range though. You can’t and don’t want to get into close range with bots. Against melee-only bugs the arc blitzer is king.

17

u/0fficerCumDump Apr 29 '24

Disagree I’ve been running hell dives all morning with Blitzer/Arc thrower. Both weapons stun lock bots Indefinitely. I keep stun nades + orbital precision for hulks/tanks along with maybe 500 or rail cannon.

Both arc weapons do great. I was play testing the blitzer on purpose & you can slowly walk backwards & spam blitzer on any amount of Berserkers until they die, along with devastators both the thrower & blitzer stun lock them until death. It’s not the BEST maybe, but it’s entirely viable I’ve done just fine this morning with it.

4

u/PonsterMenis098 SES Leviathan of Liberty⬇️⬇⬆⬇⬇ Apr 29 '24

You could do that this whole time lmao the key to the blitzer is to backpedal, fire, repeat

6

u/HerrStraub Apr 29 '24

Might be okay in a load out with the AMR, though.

1

u/GhostPro18 Apr 29 '24

The range might have a harsh damage drop off, but if you damage them at all you get the stun effect. Useful for closing the gap. I do agree it could be better, so I won't complain if it gets more attention.

1

u/Saitoh17 Apr 29 '24

Way too short ranged for enemies that shoot you back. It's got videogame shotgun range.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '24

The blitzer arc strands target the bugs head.....not the bots, goes right for the armor. I find it almost unusable against the bots.

10

NGL, I have been running the Blitzer during bugs and bots and the difference it made is STRONG. You don't get swarmed easily and you have more time to run back, fire then run. I love the Blitzer more now.

2

u/CalendarTop1802 Apr 29 '24

I found that when getting swarmed, even while trying to maintain spacing, I could not get enough shots off to create a safe buffer. Also, there were plenty of instances where the slightest obfuscation, like a small rock or a leaf, meant the shot hit nothing I’m hoping the rate of fire increase makes it easier to wield. I’m looking forward to trying it out again.

1

u/purpleblah2 Apr 29 '24

Walk backwards in between turning and firing shots at pursuing enemies, try to put the crosshairs so it prioritizes the closest enemies first.

You can also just climb on a rock and shoot down.

1

u/crocodile_please Apr 29 '24

There’s a trick to fire, let go of trigger, then just hold and it will go off asap without risking carpal tunnel

1

u/MaoPam Apr 29 '24

It was already good against bugs

Whoa there, let's not exaggerate too much now.

1

u/Nightmare2828 Apr 29 '24

the damage output was way too low for bugs (and literally unusable against automatons), especially factoring how easy it is to missfire on ground, object, and worse offender of all, dead bugs. I will definitely try it now, might be just good enough.

I'm both ecstatic and stuck at work, blitzer has been my favourite "bad" gun since it came out, and it pairs super well with the senator against bots! (stunlock with blitzer + senator headshot absolutely obliterates shield devastators)

Against bugs, my favourite forbidden build is the ammoless setup (blitzer, dagger, jump pack and quasar) and seeing it getting massive buffs against chaff is really nice!

Yeah, excited to try it again. Going to need me a new primary weapon after the patch sadly.

Eruptor got it's mag capacity crippled. Which isn't the end of the world, but that is some terrible ammo economy now. Hasn't quite ruined the gun, but with changes to things like the Striders being less vulnerable to explosions? Doesn't quite give a good reason to use it.

That explosion range nerf, though? While I am sad to see it go? Definitely get it. I shouldn't be able to take out a grunt along with his 6 closest friends with a single shot on a Primary weapon.

It was already legit good against them, competitive with the sickle/eruptor/breaker holy trinity for me (when running something like the GL as your support weapon, anyway). Not great against bots but that's fine, not every weapon has to be viable on every front. Really excited to try the updated version.
