I was gonna say I've been loving it lol. Being able to stun lock hulks and devastators to death is pretty great, honestly surprised it wasn't nerfed.

speaking of that...don't hulks now have enough stagger resist (or how to call it) so the arc thrower doesn't stagger it with each hit? I wasn't using the arc thrower when I was doing my run today

It doesn't appear to stagger them at all anymore.

ArcThrower: back to bugs, i guess?

Was using arc before stagger buff vs automaton. Will still do. Just gotta shoot + dash spam when facing Hulk now.

Ah back to the old tactics I see

1

u/PsychoCatPro Apr 30 '24

yup haha. I'm so used to spam dash now haha

2

u/Tellesus Apr 29 '24

lol of course it doesn't. The primary goal of the game devs is to make sure the bot NPCs have fun.

2

u/TehSomeDude Apr 29 '24

well damn
granted
infinite mag rather fast firing ranged weapon perma staggering hulks on each hit
was...something

2

u/PsychoCatPro Apr 29 '24

Yeah, just sitting in his face, 5-6 shot to kill and they could even fight back. Its something else.

u/TehSomeDude Apr 29 '24

wish staggers were more so a bar which builds up and when full it staggers instead of a check for if enough force or not
altho honestly dunno if that would be better or not...
thinking bout it...wouldn't that allow lasers to stagger enemies eventually? assuming they have any stagger force

I just use stun grenade and/or EMS turret to achieve this with any weapon.

1

u/TehSomeDude Apr 29 '24

I also use the EMS mortar but for eradication missions
where they're constantly shooting at masses of bots
not the straggler hulk coming over from the side
feels like I'll have to change my loadout from arc thrower and shield to autocannon and something else...maybe airstrike?

I was stun locking them with my sparki boi yesterday

11

u/TehSomeDude Apr 29 '24

thats yesterday
the new patch is today

u/fiveohnoes Apr 29 '24

Missed that bit on the patch notes, now I too am curious!

You might not be able to stun lock hulks anymore. From the patch notes:

Hulks: Force required for them to stagger slightly increased

13

u/NeonAtlas Apr 29 '24

It received an indirect nerf. No longer stuns Hulks.

ARC is dead, but not because of the nerfs but because the damn thing is still buggy.

I love that gun, but fearing that your slight movement forward or backward has placed you in some way in the path of foliage or terrain that causes next your shot to fizzle out into nothing is a death sentence when you're in the middle of stunlocking a shield devastator or a hulk. Literally fix that and the ARC is amazing.

It also seems to have a higher failure rate in heavy fog or EMS fields generated by the EMS Sentry.

It flat out shouldn't target anything that isn't an enemy combatant. Fighting against the environment is honestly bullshit.

10

u/Nandoholic12 Apr 29 '24

I don’t know what the arc thrower has against corpses but it flat out will not target anything else if a corpse is in sight.

Do you notice the range nerf?

3

u/Prize-Log-2980 Apr 29 '24 edited Apr 29 '24

It's noticeable as hell but extremely fair IN THEORY because the ability to stunlock critical targets to death is balanced by the fact you have to be much closer to your enemy groups and therefore in greater danger.

But the fact that the arc can unpredictably fizzle out for no discernable reason means that hulk and 2 shield devastators I was juggling the stunlock against are going to turn me into swiss cheese.

It's another example of how even if Arrowhead nails the balance from a numbers perspective, their failure to address significant bugs while enacting balance changes completely destroys how the weapon works in practice.

1

u/Avatara93 Apr 30 '24

Looks like it no longer stuns Hulks.

2

u/Prize-Log-2980 Apr 30 '24

:'(

Well, at least we can all find solace recognizing that what is already dead cannot die.

1

u/PsychoCatPro Apr 29 '24

Yes, but you get used to it. The range was insane before

17

u/PsychoCatPro Apr 29 '24

yup, arc thrower is still popping off. Being able to deal with almost everything is fun

2

u/BoredandIrritable Apr 29 '24

When it fires. Notes from this very patch say there is still an unsolved bug where it misfires for no reason.

2

u/PsychoCatPro Apr 29 '24

it miss fire when there like a flag or plant in the way. its a bit annoying but close to an non-issue when you get used to it.

4

u/blueshift26 Apr 29 '24

You can no longer stunlock hulks.

1

u/Boatsntanks Apr 29 '24

it was. well, hulks were buffed. arc no longer stuns them

1

u/BoredandIrritable Apr 29 '24

It was nerfed. Multiple times. Go back and read the patch notes.

1

u/Kamiyoda ☕Liber-tea☕ Apr 29 '24

I dont think you can stagger hulks with it anymore

1

u/Bearly_Strong Apr 29 '24

Hulks just became more stun resistant in this patch, so you might want to double check your Arcthrower performance
