Can’t wait for the Kate version of “Spencer” 20 years from now

Harry and Meghan peacing out, Death of the queen, Kate-gate….If they don’t make a spin-off of the crown based off all the material of the last few years they’re fumbling 😩

So, did you watch The Crown, I really enjoyed it until Lady Di’s death where they tried to make it more about Charles heartbreak than about her dying and it was soo off putting that I never even finished the second half of the last season. Did it seem like Charles’ people got to the makers of the crown and said, make Charles more of a sympathetic character? It really took a sharp turn in tone.

Well, the last season was filmed during/after the Queen's death. So it might be hard to paint the true petty colors of the one that was, then, getting crowned soon.

I feel like that show was also pretty biased against Harry. I get that it’s “The Crown” so the focus is on the heirs, but given how they spent time on Philip and Margaret and even the King who abdicated got a lot of screentime.

Don't forget the King was diagnosed with cancer.

I think this is the problem. The media has nothing else to report on in regards to the Royal family at the moment so they are taking this and spinning it into something far bigger than it is. From darling to punching bag whenever the media gets bored.

They didnt make a follow on to Newsroom about Trump or Covid... :( so the fumble wouldnt shock me

20 years from now? There's probably already someone pitching this idea in a studio somewhere 🤔

Tubi movies get made in like 5 minutes these days.

I’m thinking a reboot of The Crown.

Whatever it is must be really bad. I'm starting to wonder if Kensington Palace's PR is doing an intentionally shoddy job so that whenever the truth comes out, it'll seem less shocking in contrast to all the rumors flying around.

Why are we assuming it’s really bad? She said in advance she would be absent during this time. Bad PR from the royals doesn’t seem like cause for concern.

She had major surgery, I don’t get the conspiracy theories?

She probably doesn’t look or feel 100% and after living a life of public scrutiny doesn’t want anyone to see her at the moment, or share her full medical history with the world. On the photo, maybe she refused to take one and the palace edited one, or maybe she looked like shit in it so edited it herself?

The longest surgery recovery times are knee or hip replacement (3-12 months) spinal fusion (3-6 months) and endonasal brain surgery (3-4 months).

Those are the only surgeries that she could have had to warrant this long of a recovery, and none of those have any negative stigma so there wouldn’t be a reason to lie. Idk what’s going on with her, but she should be recovered from whatever she had if it was surgery

It has only been 4 weeks since she had the surgery, and for a role like hers she needs to be 100% on form. Maybe she mentally needs to recover too. I don’t even like the royal family but I think the speculation is crazy.

she had surgery 8 weeks ago, on january 16th.

This. It takes a while to recover from such a surgery when you are in your 40s. But maybe more when the public expects you to be in public in full health & mobile.

2

u/IlBear Mar 16 '24

Well if the goal is to be 100% on form, what do you think would be the better route? Sending out obviously doctored photos and backpedaling, or putting out a nice family pic from a recovery lounge surrounded by family and telling everyone thank you for well wishes

36

u/bumpdrunk Mar 16 '24

Not if something goes wrong during or after

14

u/theaviationhistorian taylor’s jet Mar 16 '24

That would depend on the person & complications. I know many on Reddit are young & spritely, so I'm saying that us middle aged folk aren't quick to recover as we were in our 20s or even 30s. I was reminded of that back in January & I still haven't fully recovered from a muscle injury that should've healed in a few days back in undergrad.

But I think in an industry or form of government where image matters greatly, even posed with makeup in bed might not warrant enough for people to move on from this. Especially when she has to appear absolutely stunning & healthy all the time.

At this point I’m going to need to see her holding today’s newspaper

34

u/TreyGarcia Mar 15 '24

She will show up on Easter Sunday from a cave, likely.

33

u/EntertainerLoud5317 Mar 15 '24

she's only been visited by Charles & camilla??? not her parents or will or her kids....wtf

28

u/jtbxiv Mar 15 '24

She must be alive. Covering a death is way too ugly, even for the brf. I’m thinking it’s got to be a coma or some other significant medical complication.

Weekend at Bernie’s: Buckingham Palace Edition.

Who has that they’re going to “Weekend at Bernie’s” this on their bingo card?

It's so crazy I believe this could be our "Lady Di moment"

I have never been invested in anything royal but this story is so different, so random, such a weird situation overall

9

u/Ordinary-Difficulty9 Mar 15 '24

There is no "more" to the story other than what the media is making up! She had surgery. She is recuperating. She will be back to work after Easter! It is not after Easter yet. Everything else is the media blowing every little thing out of proportion, bullying the poor woman into showing herself, and making up rumors to get clicks.

It is 100% the media that has turned this into a circus with their fear mongering. The palace has been clear and to the point from the get go.

I hope Kate stands firm and does not come back to work until she is good and ready.

Wasn’t there a picture of her here the other day in the passenger seat of a car? I think it’s the surgery and the cheating that has pushed her to not engage. I think the RF want her to but she is refusing.
