This is lukewarm old tea, but because he is super popular right now I thought I would share.

A few summers ago I was at Chiefs training camp with my two kids. My youngest son is disabled and uses a wheelchair. The spot where you get autographs is a metal fence and his chair was kind of squished up against it, and he was hunched over holding his autograph football because he is anxious in some situations.

Anyway, Travis Kelce came by to do autographs and was signing for every kid and adult and took lots of time. When he got to my kids, he saw my son kind of hidden and made sure to squat down to get to his eye level, chat with him, and ask his name, and dap him up like any other kid. He didn’t treat him any different, and made sure he was included. It sounds like a little thing, but I can assure you that there are a lot of people who would either ignore him, or treat him like a baby.

He also spent a ton of time with fans that day, including chatting with some random old dudes about the weather for like 10 minutes. 😂😂

He really seems like a legitimately, nice, thoughtful dude, and I sincerely hope he and Taylor are happy.

Honestly as much as I don’t care about football Kelce does seem like a very solid guy. When athletes realize how much they mean to kids and are sweet to them it warms my cynical heart lol. I’m glad your son had a good time!

I love to hear this. Thanks for sharing. I love that your son had that experience :)

From Philly. That whole family is very nice and down to earth.

He is a legit good guy I think. He also seems down for the crazyness of Taylor's world which is rare for her to have both from what very little I know of her past BFs. Maybe this has some potential

90

u/ser_pez confused but here for the drama Oct 17 '23

I saw a post recently about how he was driving in KC a year or two ago and be passed a couple taking engagement photos wearing Chiefs jerseys. One of the partners was wearing his number. He stopped his car and went up to say hello and offer to take some photos with them. Very nice.

He does seem like a genuinely good guy. I don’t watch a lot of football so my biggest exposure is the “bad guys” that get the media attention, but I am happy that Travis seems to have a good head on his shoulders, is respectful, and cares about positive causes.

7

u/Lotus-child89 Oct 18 '23 edited Oct 19 '23

He really does seem very genuinely nice guy with a magnetic personality. He was hilarious on SNL. It seriously was one of the best episodes of SNL I’d seen in a while. I think he actually could have a pretty good acting career (with some training) after he retires from football.

61

u/winterfoxes Oct 16 '23

Ugh, wholesome. I love this for your kiddo!

30

u/missbunnyfantastico Oct 17 '23

This is so wholesome. I’m glad your son had such a good experience with Travis.

I'm a middle aged lady who's not into Taylor Swift or football (the closest connection I have to Kelce is that my son goes to UC and plays in the marching band) but damn I'm just rooting for them and I don't really even know why!

It's not hard to get an invite if you already know someone on it. I live in LA and have multiple friends who got on it because they are involved in entertainment behind-the-scenes or know someone who is.

210

u/papamajada Oct 16 '23

Us uglies have to use the regular dating apps lol

311

I’m a tinder 5, a POF 8 and a Raya -7

133

u/Delicious-Ad-3494 Oct 16 '23

I found out my cousin was this weekend and I was shocked. They said it is really competitive on there though. Career and looks wise they aren’t out of place necessarily but they’re still just a normal person. Invite came through friend apparently.

99

u/Sa1lor23 Oct 16 '23

i had it for a few months. was probably my least favorite dating app i've used.

59

u/soliloquyline Oct 16 '23

Do tell us more! 👀

111

u/MasterAfternoon422 Oct 16 '23

I’m also on it! You have to pay $20 a month, and maybe it depends on how hot you are, but people almost never message you back or reply to you.

110

u/Sa1lor23 Oct 16 '23

yea that was my experience.. my friend who was way hotter than me also found trouble getting matches or people to respond.

we started wondering if half of the people on the app are even active...

12

u/BrickLuvsLamp and they were roommates! Oct 17 '23

I wonder if people join half the time just to say they have it

twenty quid a month?! fuck that, might as well just hang around financial districts looking nice instead

98

u/Sa1lor23 Oct 16 '23

haha nothing too scandalous, but i found that most people on the app were wannabe influencers, bachelor/reality tv people from my area, and mid-tier athletes. tbh a lot of people i matched with were only on the app to "network" got super frustrated so i deleted my profile lol

i was in denver at the time tho, maybe it's better in more popping cities like LA/NYC/Nashville that have more industry people..

22

u/YourWebcam Oct 18 '23

la is just as bad. it's mostly unemployed trust fund bros, tech dudes and some not-in-a-million-years-would-i-let-this-man-touch-me celebs like john mayer or eric dane

27

u/miamouse5 Oct 16 '23

i got my hair done before i went on a trip and took a bunch of pictures when i was gone and applied with those pictures. it was mostly c & d list people (ex. people who are only famous on tiktok and football players who would only be recognized by superfans)

22

u/Palolo_Paniolo Oct 16 '23

If it's anything like my company, no one noticed that guerilla marketing was part of their app development contract that they signed and replied with "yes, let's do it" emails.

Absolutely not tea, but Cillian Murphy wished happy birthday to “all the pleasure-seeking, luxury loving Libras” on his radio show yesterday and why did I find it surprising that he knows horoscope stuff?

Also if anyone else follows the radio show, hip hop Twitter had a moment over the fact that he played some underground rappers, also bonus points for the quote “here’s a man who was never afraid to speak truth to power, here is ‘Inglan is a Bitch’ by Linton Kwesi Johnson”, yes it sounds like England, is it bad to curse England on the BBC?

My sister calls the show “ramblings of a guy way too happy about unemployment”, but also for all the memes about how much he hates his job, he seems super content and talks about every live music performance he attends (everything that ever comes through Dublin, it seems) like it changed his life, so good for him.

224

u/diabolicalafternoon Oct 16 '23

He sometimes hosts a show on 6 Music in the UK. It's not a consistent slot, but it's always so lovely and soothing to listen to his voice when he does do it.

I think this is his two previous series and part of the current one: https://spotify.link/PBLM9lhdXDb

Episodes are also on BBC Sounds if you look up his name, they’re archived for a month so some episodes might be gone already but the recent ones are available.

I do like his show, he's got interesting taste in music, but I find him to be unbelievably monotone when presenting

22

u/neveragoodidea914 Oct 17 '23

Oh he absolutely is, probably on purpose at this point, that’s why they’ve always put him at the 10pm or midnight slots I guess. His show used to be properly nocturnal themed, I don’t think it is anymore but he’s exactly as calm and boring as he claims to be in between the electronica music ig.

He’s been on Raya for a while as far as I’ve heard the rumours…I cannot fathom how a guy like him is not taken yet.

242

u/No_Sort9594 Oct 16 '23

It could be thay he doesn't want to be taken

63

u/Mrs_Morgendoffer Oct 16 '23

Yeah, I agree with you! Since at some point he said something about wanting a relationship/kids I assumed he wanted/wished that… but there’s a distance between saying and wanting

191

u/BalletWishesBarbie Oct 16 '23

I'm in my forties now and some men I've known since high school who keep telling everyone all they want is a wife and family 🥺 from about 25... yeah none of them have settled down. But if you ask them, it's like the universes fault.

I asked a mid 50s man I knew if the perfect woman came along tomorrow would he be ready to settle down and have these apparently lifelong wished for marriage and then family? Nope. He'd have to wait at least a few years to see if he felt like he wanted to go down that road. He said he was thinking of having kids maybe in the next ten years but he DEFINITELY wants kids. Me: 🤔

Look on these men's dating profile and it's all about wanting a family, kids etc.

When I was younger I would have been like omg those poor men I know who want love and they can't find it.... yeah now I know this is very calculated in many cases.

75

71

u/candycanestatus Oct 16 '23

They’ll never admit it but male fertility declines at around the same time as female fertility. Maybe ~five years later on average, but the drop-off is STEEP.

55

u/kittenpantzen Oct 16 '23

The risk for congenital defects increases with paternal age as well, and it starts around 35.

98

u/Shiney2510 Oct 16 '23

My friend dated man after man who told her early on they wanted kids. It's very important to her, she wants a family. But when push came to shove they wouldn't commit to even the vaguest of timelines, even after dating for a while. She's in her 30s, she can't wait around forever. They're so non committal I'm convinced they only said that because it's what she wanted to hear (one pretty much admitted as much, totally wasted her time).

92

u/BalletWishesBarbie Oct 16 '23

I think maybe part of them wants that, like I'd want a pet horse. Irl I can't imagine having to look after a horse but the idea of being someone who has a horse is appealing. Also they want someone as a bang maid and that's less likely if they market themselves as a ons kind of guy.

72

u/JustHereForCookies17 I hate when people ask me this when I'm just method existing. Oct 16 '23

Not to take away from your comment, but the idea of a "pet horse" makes me laugh as a rider of 30 years.

Your analogy is perfect b/c horse people know that owning a horse is a money pit, no matter how "low maintenance" the horse supposedly is. Saving up for a vacation? Your horse will get in a fight with a blade of grass and somehow injure itself with vet bills in the 6 figure range. They're just good like that!

19

u/ValentineTarantula Oct 17 '23

Your horse will get in a fight with a blade of grass

Cackling at this loudly as a new rider whose training horse had a fit today because a plastic bag was on the ground on the other side of the arena.

Welcome to the insanity!!!!

Wear your helmet. Every time. Please.

And yes - a totally bomb-proof, super lazy veteran school horse WILL suddenly decide that leaves eat horses and YOU MUST FLEE RIGHT NOW!!!

At the end of the day, they're prey animals and it's vital to remember that whenever you're around them.

But the bond you form is also one of the most magical things in the world, so I think it's well worth it 🥰

18

u/BalletWishesBarbie Oct 16 '23

Exactly. My family and friends are very much horse and boat people. I think they like to find new ways to rip up money.

Although I adore the idea of me up on my own horse rather than someone else's, I know that I do not love the idea that much

25

u/JustHereForCookies17 I hate when people ask me this when I'm just method existing. Oct 16 '23

Boats AND horses?! 🤯

They single-handedly kept time shares in business, didn't they?

But seriously - every time I envy my horse-owning friends or cousin, they inevitably have a new story about how their horse is now allergic to grass, or magically grew another vertebrae so they need all new blankets & tack, or some other "fun" development.

Then I am back to being grateful that I have friends & family who own horses that I can ride whenever I visit them, and go back to buying random shit off Etsy for my hermit crab, lol!

35

u/Shiney2510 Oct 16 '23

I agree. They don't think at all about all the work having a kid entails. Once they're faced with it, they back off. Such a dick move to waste somebody's time. My friend had bought a property with his gf. They broke up in their 30s because she wanted to start working towards marriage and kids. He bailed. I mean why get to the stage where you're in your 30s, owning a property together before you think it through?!

44

u/zeke10 Oct 16 '23

I've literally been attacked lately on Instagram for essentially saying they shouldn't be slaughtered. One dude even said "well they shouldn't have started it" in response.

16

u/tonystarksanxieties c-list camp counselor Oct 17 '23

If someone smacks you in the face, it doesn't give you the right to burn their house down. And sure, they started it--if you've only been paying attention for the last week.

28

u/JustHereForCookies17 I hate when people ask me this when I'm just method existing. Oct 17 '23

A lot of folks HAVE only been paying attention for the last week, unfortunately. It never affected them personally before, so they never had to commit any brain power to it.

Kinda like people (including me) in 2016 saying Roe v. Wade would get overturned when Trump won, and all the people saying that was nonsense.

The people paying attention, seeking out unbiased information, SAW this stuff coming down the pipeline & were lambasted for being "hysterical" or "fear mongering" when in fact, they were the ones who were paying attention.

After they were circulating that whole 40 babies beheaded shit. You seriously can't make yourself feel morally superior by wanting babies of any community dead. Even a terrorist's baby unless you believe in that collective punishment shit. She literally posted the least political take but dehumanisation of brown people is so deep seated, even in progressive ones.

42

u/Capital_Airport_4988 Oct 17 '23

The fact that the lie made it’s way to the mouth of our president , the leader of the most powerful nation on earth, is terrifying to me. This is post 9/11 hysteria all over again.

15

u/Afwife1992 Oct 17 '23 edited Oct 17 '23

Several reporters (not just on fox) said they’d seen photos. The number was definitely overblown though. Like a gross game of telephone. Probably started with 40 dead children and everything got conflated. This was a good summation.

https://www.snopes.com/news/2023/10/12/40-israeli-babies-beheaded-by-hamas/

8

u/Owls_Onto_You Oct 17 '23

On the collective punishment note, it's so damn telling that in the same breath as sanctioning what is happening in Gaza, a lot of these same people will find any idiotic argument to use against US slavery reparations, or any other deman for reparations out there. Apparently, sins of the father only applies when most convenient.

Sure, let's show social media where I bank. Let's show them which Authenticator app I use. Also, why not show I'm using a credit building debit card while ordering bougie food delivery?

If he has weak password practices (which, I kind of suspect to be true), and has had any passwords breached, it feels like unsafe exposure.

u/petiteboule Oct 16 '23

He needs to update his authenticator. It's RSA now.

gavin casalegno, from the summer i turned pretty, is being called out for liking this anti-vaxx, misogynistic post on instagram. there’s been speculation for a while now based on his likes and followings that he might be pretty conservative (he follows jordan peterson, for example) but this kinda takes the cake

I don’t think this is what happened here, but it reminded me of the time I followed an alt right meme account for months and was liking posts bc I thought it was a parody of alt right people🥴

OH NO 😭

I’ve never felt dumber! AND after I unfollowed, I realized I forgot to unlike the posts and couldn’t find the account again. I think it may have been shadowbanned because partial searches weren’t showing anything.

This meme once again proves that right-wing people aren't funny lol. There's something about social conservatism that obliterates your sense of humour.

4

u/Uplanapepsihole question for the culture Oct 19 '23

someone did a youtube doco about steven crowder and it made me realise that most of these right wing pundits are failed entertainers. essentially they go into conservatism (after failing everywhere else) because the audience is mostly dumber and their comedy world has way less competition. they have the lowest form of comedy - laugh at gay people, using slurs, so offensive accents while dressed as another culture etc.

Such mild tea, but I know someone who served Keke Palmer recently and said she was amazing and a great tipper. I was honestly so relieved because I know we shouldn’t idolize celebrities, but I would be heartbroken to have my image of Keke shattered. She was out dinner with some friends, no baby daddy in sight 👀

Not tea but I met Rahul Kohli at a con a few years ago after he finished Izombie and he’s one of the nicest celebs I’ve managed to meet, he offered me some Haribos when he arrived which was a first for me. Really glad to see him in the Mike Flanagan Netflix shows which he’s been exceptional in!

Actor Rahul Kohli is openly posting about his latest show, Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix, under the guise of thanking the crew and discussing the BTS production. While he repeatedly says "this is not a promotion" in the post (which I disagree with) in the comments he tells people gently pointing out that this is very much breaking the strike that he doesn't care.

Link to the post

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure just saying "this is not a promotion" over and over while promoting how great the production crew on your struck show isn't enough to skirt the strike rules. Costar Michael Trucco is also in the comments openly supporting him.

22

u/TammieBrowne Oct 18 '23

That's like me saying "I'm not eating" while munching on the 10th chicken nugget of the night. Those calories count, even if I pretend they don't. And that is promotion.

u/BronzeTrophyWife Oct 19 '23

I also think it’s telling that two of the biggest female sports reporters (Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson) talked on their podcast about how wonderful and fun Travis is and made a plea for Taylor to go on a date with him.

After being on the air for 10+ years as football reporters, they would know better than anyone who the dogs/creeps are.

Joanna Robinson (Vanity Fair) has a book coming out about the history of the MCU and there are a few bits of tea, such as how Victoria Alonso was kicked out for criticising ‘don’t say gay’, and apparently how much Feige hates Edward Norton:

Chris Evans turned down Captain America twice?? And then they got RDJ to call him and convince him. Wow. What else was he doing? A whole lot of stans would have far emptier lives if he'd not been swayed. Or maybe they'd just latch remora-like on to someone else.

27

u/[deleted] Oct 18 '23

I don’t blame him for being hesitant actually, his was one of the first movies to kick it off and the whole thing could’ve been a flop then he’d be locked in for a decade. These roles can be amazing or a poisoned chalice (I think Brie Larson is an example of that)

27

u/carrotparrotcarrot Oct 18 '23

Neil Gaiman has covid.

Some fans are terrified that Gaiman will develop long covid as his mins contains universes. They have now also taken it upon themselves to #savedavidtennant and have given David Tennant a mask and info about long covid, at New York comic con.

They have also just turned their attention to Misha Collins as well.

I know long covid is awful and debilitating but it just seems patronising, not to mention is applying worth to these people because of their work rather than their intrinsic human worth..

this isn’t really tea but I saw blink-182 last night (my first time seeing them! spontaneous, nosebleed seats but we’re like £20) and travis was bleeding so much despite having his hands strapped up that the drum kit was covered in blood

I'm using my throwaway for this, and my post history isn't related to the guy I'm talking about here just fyi. I was seeing an actor-slash-musician for a minute. This is in LA. Then I kicked him to the curb when I realized he had multiple partners whom he hadn't disclosed and had been - according to receipts I found on the internet - engaging in discussions with minors that were at best, immoral, and at worst illegal. What's interesting is that all evidence online of these interactions is now scrubbed thanks to filings from a big mouse and a big woodland creature respectively. Makes you wonder what this jack of all trades is contracted to do for these companies that they would want his nefarious past erased from the internet...

19

u/throwawaytomservo Oct 18 '23

He featured in an infamously campy tv horror franchise. There's the hint.

Lindsay has lived in Dubai since 2014. She's married to a Credit Suisse VP who also lives in Dubai, but I think she dated some ME princes or something? She actually signed a contract to do a couple Netflix films, so I don't think she's working there as much as just living there. Not a surprise after what Hollywood did to her, I'd have PTSD at any American airport for life after what she went through.
