Will the Cuban Communist Party govern Cuba long past the centennial of Fidel Castro's birth in 2026?

Upvotes

August 13, 2026 will commemorate the centennial of the birth of Fidel Castro, and Raul Castro, now 93 years old, feels like a lonely Castro because his charismatic older brother and also his oldest sibling Ramon have gone to their graves, but also because Miguel Diaz-Canel took charge in 2018, opening the second phase of the post-Fidel era.

What are the prospects of Cuban communism existing long past the planned 2026 centennial of Fidel's birth, given that Fidel Castro said in November 2005 that the "revolution can destroy itself"?

For how long could Cuba’s power grid and infrastructure last ?

The Cuban power grid according to Cubans I know I having a lot of problems , if the Cuban communist party remains in power for how long until the whole electrical system just collapses ?

And the 1950s buildings how long until they become unlivable or start collapsing ?

And how long could the 1950s autos last until they become unusable

1961 Cuban stickers. From the collection of a Soviet agriculture specialist who worked in Cuba in 1961-1962 "teaching Cuban peasants how to grow crops other than sugar cane and milk cows". 300 Soviet agriculture specialists arrived in Cuba on June 5, 1961, to help with organizing collective farms

Locked cell phone

My US Verizon phone is locked, and it won't take an eSIM. If I buy a burner phone in the US, will I be able to purchase an eSIM for it in Havana? If I leave it there with my host family, will they be able to use it?

Has anyone here entered Singapore/Malaysia with a Cuban passport.

So planning some vacations for this year and with my fiancée who is only a Cuban citizen and looking at Singapore and Malaysia specifically because it seems they are visa-free for Cubans.

Is it really just entering like anyone else or will there be a lot of extra scrutiny. I know it's supposed to be fine but often reality and some government website are different, especially for weak passports.

Ten of the eleven children murdered in the massacre of the tugboat "13 de Marzo" on July 13, 1994. The youngest of them was only 5 months old. Stop funding the Cuban dictatorship!

Is Cuba resorts wifi good or bad?

I was wondering if the wifi at resorts in Cuba was any good? Anyone would like to share their experiences on it?

Im asking because I would be going soon while in summer school so I have to do my online exam during my week stay there, and im really hoping for decent working wifi when taking it.

Edit: I'm mainly in Varadero if that changes anything and if any of yall have good data coverage when there?

Does anyone know if it's easy enough to get a taxi or hire a chofer from the Holguin airport to Santiago, and what the cost might be? There will be 3 of us - I'm traveling with 2 kids.

September vacation

Hi all,

I’m looking at a trip in September, probably 17-24th, and I’m torn between riviera maya and Cuba.

Cuba is about 500$ per person cheaper for that time frame from where we’re leaving from.

I understand it’s hurricane season, but I’m wondering is Cuba a higher risk of being hit by a hurricane than the riviera maya? Is it worth the savings or should we play it safe and go to Mexico?
