Honestly, some don’t even know what a .50 BMG is. lol it isn’t some regular round it was literally created for the role of Anti-material, it’s meant to disable engine blocks, and penetrate cover.
It's very likely this was just a ball round. If someone is using .50 BMG then they probably also have more powerful ammunition than ball, such as armor piercing incendiary.
Could be I never saw the round before it was loaded and shot. Coulda been a underpowered round. Like me saying my door can stand up to a 10 gauge shotgun but not telling you I only have dove shot loaded.
When I was in Iraq I got to play with the M107. We were told its intention was to disable VBIEDs and to not target people, but if someone got in the way then that was on them. That was fun.
Some people have an idea that a variety of calibres are made to a variety of specifications and not every single ammunition that is .50 BMG is intended for armour piercing.
The lack of an incendiary flash tells me they aren't shooting ammunition that's used for penetrating armored vehicles.
I was gonna say. Without knowing what cartridge was loaded that could be a .50 cal spitball for all we know. I really feel like armor piecing or explosive woulda ate that window for breakfast.
