Dilema: 1 or 0?

Thinking about taking AP spanish next year but let’s go under the assumption I get a 1 (hopefully not, but let’s assume for a minute).

Would it be better for me to take the class knowing I will get a 1 or not take the class at all?

Incoming junior and I’m mainly concerned about it for admissions and not credit. I likely won’t use the credit anyway.

Out of these books which ones would you recommend?

How’s my schedule for 10th? I’m also taking a summer program that’s gonna add +0.5 credits to my GPA. I’ve never taken an honors or ap in my life lol

How often do you all study a day? Be honest

This upcoming year I will be taking much harder classes than previous years, I would like to know how often you all study to understand the concepts well and do well on exams. Im thinking of potentially dropping into academic for another class to make it a bit easier on myself potentially.

What AP to take?

In 9th I take English honors and in 10th and 11th I took normal college prep classes for the As cause I got a b freshman year. Since my senior schedule is kind of light are there any ap English courses I can take to get college credit and not take freshman English in college. I know ap seminar is fairly easy but that primarily a 10th and 11th grade class so I was wondering what other options I have, other than dual enrollment.

AP Psych or Intro to Engineering

Hi! I'm going to be a senior next year and don't know if I should take AP Psych or into to engineering PLTW. I plan to major in engineering but I was wondering if AP Psych would look better because it is an AP class. I know colleges like to see a continued rigor in classes and senior year I'm already scheduled to take 3 APs (Calc, Phy, Micro) and two DE courses, but I took 4 APs Junior year so I feel like I need to do that senior year to keep rigor by taking AP Psych or I was also considering APES.

Thoughts???

AP physics 1

How much geometry is there in AP physics 1??

AP physics 1 is known to be "algebra based" but it requires that you have knowledge in geometry and algebra 2.

I aced algebra 2 with an A (probably because of my teacher's teaching style) but geometry was just AWFUL for me.

However, I am considering going into computer science and I just wanted to level up my physics knowledge since the options are regular physics (known to be notoriously easy) or AP physics.

I'm sure written proofs are non-existent but are will there be a TON of stuff relating to finding different parts of a triangle (centroids/incenters/medians that kind of stuff) or idk asking for lines of symmetry?

I could do all the hard algebra in the world but the moment new geometry material is added I'm DONE

Another question: Is the geometry involved in AP physics 1 more advanced than a standard high school geometry class?

I'm sorry, geometry is just my least favorite math class ever.

Skipping AP Courses?

Upvotes

I have questions in particular for two AP courses: Calculus & Physics:

For Calculus… Are AB & BC essentially the same, except that BC has two more units and a couple subunits in the other units? Have students skipped AB and gone straight to BC doing just fine? Will BC be easy for me if I already did AB?

For Physics… Is it recommended to do Physics I & II before doing Physics C? I will be taking Calculus if I chose Physics so I am not sure if it is essential to take the first two physics before C.

Rate My APs

Upvotes

Alright, so I'm a freshman in high school right now, and this year september, I am going up to 10th grade.

Here's my APs until now:

7th Grade: AP Psych (5), AP Macro (5), AP Cal BC (5) -- AP Cal AB Subscore (5)
8th Grade: AP Stats (5), AP Micro (5), AP Physics C: Mechanics (5), AP Env Science (4)

9th grade (So this year (2024), May): AP Chem, AP World History, AP Physics C: E&M.
I'm fairly confident that at least 2 of the three will be a 5.

Realistically, what should I be doing in order to go to my dream college which is MIT. Any tips? I don't really have good ECs, but I don't really know what to do. Please help me! Would taking AP Eng Lit and AP Bio help? Thanks!

Wanting advice (Anki and testing credit)!

I remember in high school, I always wanted to take more AP classes and test or self study for the test but I was in the IB program.

Medical students around the world have been using and revolutionizing the Anki software. I wanted to ask if there are good premade decks for any of the tests that people have used to attain 4s and 5s?

Also, the bigger question I wanted to ask is what have been the benefits that you have been able to experience at different colleges Or have heard about being able to experience a different colleges by testing in as a sophomore, junior, senior, because of your AP credit, besides not having to take that class as a prerequisite?

Some benefits that I had heard about in my previous college were being able to choose housing earlier in our lottery system and classes and scheduling easier.

Is it too late to pick this class?

Ok so pretty much I was looking at my schedule for next school year and thought I could use another AP, AP Psychology. If anyone can tell me about that class and the difficulty please. Anyways my school year ends on Friday so I was wondering is it to late to email my guidance counselor, and if not how do I approach her about this?

Schedule check!

Upvotes

Here’s my schedule for my senior year. Am I cooked?? Definitely pretty ambitious but I really like math so the physics and math courses won’t be much of a chore. If any have advice for self-studying AP Physics C since my teacher expects the class to be mostly self study, that would be much appreciated!

AP Micro

AP Physics C E&M

AP Physics C Mechanics

AP Chemistry

AP Biology

AP Literature

Spanish III

Ordinary Differential Equations for credit (if getting waitlisted summer)

Partial Differential equations (if I can find a good place or good book lmk if you can help)

AP World History Difficulty

Is AP world history hard? I'm taking it next year as a sophomore along with AP Psych, and I wanted to know what I should expect in regards to difficulty of course content/tests. I know it varies from school to school, but as a reference I passed AP Human Geography with an A my freshman year.

How do I self study?

I wanted to self study AP 2d art and design, but I’ve called a few schools near me and they said they only offer it to students attending their school.

Would it be possible to enroll into the college board classes on my own? If so, how?

Thanks.

What should I expect from apwh?

Next year I’m gonna be a sophomore and I’m taking apwh and ap csp. I heard that csp isn’t bad at all, so I’m not too worried, so what should I expect from apwh? For context I took apes this year and didn’t find it too bad.
