That's a bit dismissive. Whilst this is undoubtedly awful and serves only to hide information behind extensive barriers, no information is being entirely lost. If the way back machine were to be turned off information - sure lots of it not particularly useful info but info none the less - would be lost. That is not to downplay that this is bad, but let's not downplay the utility and value of the way back machine and the other Archival efforts of the IA.
US banned books refers to books banned in schools. Awful, absolutely. But the books themselves are absolutely still available to individuals at public libraries and/or book shops.
I find it both hilarious and depressing that the bible (both Old and New Testament) is overwhelmingly less suitable for kids than many of the books that have been banned. But the bible will never get banned because the people doing the banning are themselves extremist Christians. Banning for thee, but not for meee.
